Research

Work is planned in the following field:-

London Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Centres Ltd. is pleased to announce that we will be participating in the following Multi-Centre Research Trail in conjunction with the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research.

Decompression chambers, may hold the key to relieving painful side effects of breast cancer treatment. Breathing pure oxygen in a recompression chamber could help women who have been left with lymphoedema, a painful and irreversible condition characterised by a severely swollen arm following radiotherapy.

A pilot study led by The Royal Marsden Hospital and The Institute of Cancer Research to test this new treatment, called hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), found it could reduce swelling permanently in many cases.
